Obtaining a Certificate of Good Standing

If you are admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina and would like a Certificate of Good Standing, please choose one of the following options:

1)     Electronic Certificate of Good Standing (CM/ECF Registered Attorneys Only)

Log into your CM/ECF account, select Utilities and then Certificate of Good Standing – Electronic PDF. To pay for your certificate, you will be automatically redirected to pay.gov where you will pay the $21.00 fee via credit card. Your PDF certificate will be e-mailed within one business day to your primary e-mail address on file in CM/ECF.

2)  Paper Certificate of Good Standing with Raised Seal

  • Online Request (CM/ECF Registered Attorneys Only). Log into your CM/ECF account, select Utilities and then Certificate of Good Standing – Raised Seal.  To pay for your certificate, you will be automatically redirected to pay.gov where you will pay the $21.00 fee via credit card. Your certificate will be mailed within one week to the mailing address you provide in your request.
  • Mail Request. Submit your request with the $21.00 fee using a check or money order. Your certificate will be mailed within one week of receipt.
  • In-Person Request. Visit the Clerk’s Office located in Greensboro, North Carolina and speak with an Intake clerk, who will issue a certificate while you wait. You may pay by cash, check, money order, credit card or debit card (with credit card symbol)
