Fourth Circuit Appeal Procedures
Effective July 2, 2012, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit amended their local rules to require that counsel file the appeal appendix in electronic form. The Notice of Proposed Amendments from the Court of Appeals provides further information. For cases filed in the Middle District of North Carolina, attorneys can create an appendix in CM/ECF by checking the "Create Appendix" box (highlighted) when generating a docket sheet as seen below. When the "Create Appendix" box is selected, you will be given an opportunity to select the appropriate documents and download the appendix in PDF format. For complete instructions on how to create and file an appendix, please refer to the Fourth Circuit's Electronic Appendix Instructions.
